I practise safe babywearing by making sure that my carriers are all in excellent working condition BEFORE putting my baby in it. And I dress up appropriately - high heels a definite no-no for me. As can be seen from the picture, I was going up the stairs - to lessen the risks of falling, I wore my little girl on my back to ensure that I was hands free and my view would not be obstructed by my (cute) daughter's head!

When wrapping a newborn, I'd stand near a bed to ensure safety in case of accidents ocurring. I'd not backcarry a newborn for fear I cannot check on him constantly. To me, whatever position and however well they are positioned, there is still a safety risk and newborns might not have the strength enough to tell us. So, back carry is a no-no for me.In a wrap, the front cross carry would be most supportive when all 3 layers are used up. With baby in the tummy to tummy position, I'd tie the wrap tight enough to ensure baby is in a comfortable position and that his legs are not bent or crooked. With a newborn, I'd also ensure that he is sitting up right and not stressing out his spine by slightly pushing his back to see if he squirms. If he squirms, it will mean that he is not sitting in a proper position and his spine is bent/curved towards me.

It is important to practice Safe Babywearing because to ensure the well being of our baby in the carrier and allow us enjoy all the benefits it offers. Below are the reasons why it is important to practice Safe Babywearing.

1- SAFE BABYWEARING is choosing suitable carriers that support the baby’s spine naturally to avoid putting baby at risk of deformation and infection.

2- SAFE BABYWEARING is reading the manual, understands it and follow the manufacturer’s guideline to avoid any mistake during use that may jeopardize the safety of the baby. The recommendation of age and weight must also be obliged to reduce the risk of the baby falling out of the carrier.

3- SAFE BABYWEARING is placing the baby in correct position to prevent from suffocation which can occur when the baby’s chin slumps on his own chest, kinking the airway.

4- SAFE BABYWEARING is not involving in dangerous activity while babywearing such as jogging or handling sharp object. Activity that has risk of falling should also be avoided. Eventhough, babywearing allows us to be multi tasking, we should put extra cautious when dealing or near hot area such as stove or oven. This is to prevent unavoidable accident.

5- SAFE BABYWEARING is ensuring that no fabric is obstructing the airflow of baby’s breathing. Rebreathing air is dangerous and toxic due to high level of carbon dioxide. Besides this, it can also reduce the ability of the baby to breathe.

6- SAFE BABYWEARING is always aware of the baby’s response. If anything undesirable occurs, fast countermeasure or action can be taken.

Last but least, by practicing Safe Babywearing we can enjoy the bonding between us and our baby to the fullest. It is the greatest expression of love by holding and carrying our baby.

It is important to practice safe babywearing because the safety of our little one is our responsibility. Our precious baby is fragile and depends on us for care and protection. On the otherhand safe babywearing need not only refer to the baby but also the babywearer safety.

First and foremost, get to know the strength and limitation of your baby carrier. Some carrier are meant for different weather and temperature condition; some are meant for casual wear and others are suited for heavy duty hiking trip; some comes in one size to fit all and some suited for a weight range.

The second point to consider would be practice, practice and practice!!! Get familiar on how to safely put in and take out the baby from the carrier. Practicing with a dummy until you get it right and get somebody to spot you.

The third point to consider is your posture and your foot wears, when it comes to babywearing these two will either make you or break you. Don’t slouch so that your weight is transferred evenly down from you shoulder and hip to the sole of your feet evenly. High heels is nice and sexy but a sprain ankle or a trip and fall might be nasty.

The fourth point to consider is to be vigilant of your surroundings. Watch out for commotion and sharp object at baby height. Try to keep a gap /distance from your surrounding while babywearing.

Last but not least, before donning your carrier, it is always good to admire your carrier and at the same time to check if there is any wear and tear. Safety first and you will enjoy babywearing!!!

It is important to practise safe babywearing.. to ensure baby and you

(wearer) are SAFE and comfortable. For tummy-to-tummy position in

a pouch or ringsling, always check baby’s knees are higher than the

bum. Baby’s bones are soft and fragile, no matter if carrying them

with bare hands or in a carrier, their legs should assume in their most

anatomically-correct position. Correct positions will ensure safety

of the baby and also the wearer. With correct position, unnecessary

backache and shoulder aches can be avoided.

When, cradle-carry, always ensure they are breathing okay. No

excess fabrics covering their face, and no chin-to-chest. Silent baby

is not always a good sign. Always check baby’s breathing especially

newborns!

When wear your baby, always interact with them, kiss and talk

to them. You have your loved ones very near to you. Smaller baby

feels more secure when listening to your heart beats, just like when

they were in your womb! Interacting with them is another way telling

them “they are safe in there”.

It is a known fact that you can multitasking when babywearing.

But ensure that baby and you are safe when you are multitasking. For

example, babywearing while cooking, ensure that hot pots are far from

baby’s reach and the excess fabrics of the carrier are not in your way

to avoid any accidents. But I am sure, mothers’ instincts always tell

you what is right and what is wrong.

Last but not least, babywearing is bliss. Safety always comes

first. Safety ensures comfortness. No matter what invention we have

in this world, the flaws are always humane. So, dig more knowledge

and let your and others’ experiences be your sifu.

Yes, above is the first baby wearing's chapter in my life. It actually started when i came across baby wearing articles to deal with fussy baby in internet. I fall for ring sling and can't help thinking to get one for me. Hence, when we accidentally saw a ring sling during shopping at one baby store, i grab it without second thought.

It is a cotton ring sling, very thin cotton and come with big steel ring. It cost me only RM 39.90 and was wondering then why people pay hundred dollar for ring sling. Hahahha...

Okay, threading had took me forever and it was time to put Alesya in. She was very supportive. Enjoyed her every moments and it motivated me to keep on trying. Put her through was not difficult but to adjust the ring sling, really tested by patient. The fabrics got twisted and it looks horrible.

However, after struggling i managed to do tummy to tummy, cradle carry as well as forward facing style. It hold Alesya nicely but was with ugly twisted looks ring sling. Oh, my happy meter drop to zero!

Yes, my first experience was not a beautiful one yet i never lose interest in baby wearing. I I study from forum and learn from seniors whom had their experience with ring sling. I'm happy that i bought another ringsling made of linen which definitely a right purchase.

I still keep my first ring sling but i have expand to another ring sling and two SSCs. I'm glad that even though i had reason to give up on baby wearing but i don't. I take that as a challange and it worth more when knowing that i made the right choice for Alesya too.

My firstborn was a fussy baby. He needed to be carried during the day… He needed to be carried during the night. My husband and I would take turns to swaddle him to sleep, day and night. By the time he is content enough to sleep, it’s time for the next feed. Looking back, it seems like we’ve accomplished a very challenging task.

All through confinement, I’ve been thinking of this piece of cloth I’ve seen people use to swaddle their babies… something I saw with rings on the shoulder. I did not know a thing about the terms ‘babywearing’ and ‘slings’. I did not even know where to start searching.

When my baby was about 3 months, the Parenthood Expo took place in Mid Valley. We grabbed the chance to visit it, hoping to find something we can use to carry baby in. Surprisingly, back then, we knew that the crotch type carrier is not what we want. It was where we learnt there’s the ring sling and the pouch. Somehow, the ring sling did not appeal to us so we went for the pouch. Inexperienced as we were, we went for a size that suited my husband (who’s 3 sizes bigger than me) so we could share.

Back home, I was very excited to start wearing my baby while my suspecting in laws looked on with fear and anxiety. “Are you sure this is safe”, they asked. My husband was very supportive and kept persuading them it will work.

Baby in hands, cradled… legs in first… we try to remember the steps. Sadly, it did not work out (remember I had a pouch 3 sizes bigger) as we wished it would. Baby seems very wobbly in there as though he was going to fall. It was not safe at all. Without thinking twice, my Father in law took the baby away, deeming the pouch not safe. It felt that way to me, too. I wondered why… it seems so comfortable for both the adult and the baby when we looked at pictures. “Well, pictures can lie”, I thought to myself. “They are advertisements, after all”, I kept thinking. As a result, the pouch got stashed away for the next few months… until I gained confidence to start all over again (that’s another story).

Despite having two kids already I only started babywearing only recently on my third child. I was actually more then ever determine to embark into babywearing this time around as the previous time I did not have the chance to do so. Furthermore back then all these babywearing gears was not easily made available, nontheless I was willing to try. I made extensive research on the type of babywearing gears and at that point of time with the limited amount of budget plus thinking of the challenges that I might have to go through in babywearing i.e think I’m the only one who will babywear for the first 3 months thus I decided to go for the Sized Pouch.

My Babywearing experiment started possibly before the end of my confinement, wanted to start sooner but since I am a c-sec case thus only manage to experiment after the 30 days. At that point I have started doing extensive housework like laundaring and so sometimes the baby needs to be carried. Coping with a recuperating c-sect scar and babywearing was a whole new added challenge altogether. I was not really scared but rather anxious and apprehensive.

Initially I would have wanted to try it out with my husband, then after a few thoughts, scared that he might disapproved of me trying to babywear while confinement I decided to just go ahead and try it on my own with the most confident state of mind and when I am ready. Standing right infront of a big mirror all alone with the baby and also looking at the leaflet manual, it was infact an interesting juggle for me. For the first time lucky enough baby was co-operating rather well despite the shortcomings of me being totally clueless on hands on babywearing. Scooping the baby gently and supporting her on one hand before trying to lay her in the pouch as infact not so easy. I thought I might break her in the process and me being small too it does have some form of psychological effect. I was holding on to the baby quite oftenly thinking that she might just slip off or something, But the baby didn’t even cry, she was only making squeking sounds, probably thinking my mummy is trying to learn something here I must give her space to do so… She seems to like it but after a while I realise that I was actually doing it all wrong! No wonder I felt something was amidst, I didn’t fold the pouch as it was supposed to. Lucky me and also baby, nothing bad happened. I was infact carrying the baby as if I was a STORK!!!!! I was thinking. Gosh!!! I’m a total IDIOT. Adjusting the baby while trying not to hurt her or simply accidentally bending her as well as trying not to touch my scar was infact the biggest hurdle for me. That did not deter me to try again the next day. Thus after a few rounds on YouTube Learning, I finally got it right.

ENTRY 4

It is important to practice safe babywearing ALL THE TIME as much as it is important to hold your child’s hand when you are crossing the road ALL THE TIME… cos you never know what awaits you at the other end.

While you think that it is safe to wear your baby wobbly and loose in a carrier for ‘only 5 minutes’ as you finish your chore, your baby might be sliding down without notice (as you were too busy and occupied with your chore) and hurt himself.

While you are busy selecting your groceries, your baby might be doing the same behind your back (while being back carried) and hitting you with a can (ouch!).

While you have him dangling in a carrier way below your tummy, you wonder why he kept crying for attention when he is already being worn.

And, remember the times you almost sat on him cos he was being such a sweet baby and snoozing at the back… quietly?

Babywearing may be fun and enjoyable but let us not forget to be alert and to practice safe babywearing at all times as you never know what could happen around the bend just when you weren’t thinking (and, yes, aren’t us trying to multitask while we wear our babies?).

It is important to practice safe babywearing as our child safety is a vital issue that we should never compromise with. Besides, safety issues came together with responsibility and trust. How?

As a mother, we may have many reasons to go for babywearing. It can be multitasking reason, soothe fussy baby, to get closer to little one or just because trendy and tempting carrier available in market. We can have thousand different reason yet we should never stop focusing on our child safety. Therefore, we should always check to ensure that our baby can breath easily in sling, been carried in correct posture, carried in safe carrier and the list goes on. Yes, this is a part of responsibility, the same one like providing good food, take good care or give good education. If we can't afford practice safe babywearing then maybe we shouldn't babywear. Better safe than sorry right? Of course safety is a serious issue so we should follow the step of safety in babywearing to minimize risk and gain babywearing benefits.

Besides responsibility, trust is also an element in safe babywearing. Ever wonder where to see 100% trust? Husband and wife? 95% i guess...parents to kids? 97% maybe...friend? Actually, it's kids to parents. Ever see when father throw his kid to the air? How many percent the kid trust that his/her father will catch him/her? Yes, 100% absolutely. And because of this trust, we shall never take safe babywearing for granted. As our child depend on us so it is our duty to ensure we babywear them safely.

Lastly, by babywearing safely we will always have satisfaction in our heart that we have give our best to our own child. What else matter than our child right?

ENTRY 1

ENTRY 2 Wearing a pouch with a baby in a cradle carry position, I'd make sure the seam is in the middle (i.e. the lowest point) and that baby is snugly fitted in between two layers of fabric (which will prevent baby to slip down and to ensure comfort). I'd constantly check on baby's colours (i.e. on the face and his body) to ensure that he is not stressing out to breath. It's also important to ensure that baby's legs is safely cuddling towards my body and not bent etc. Above all, I feel it is important to ensure getting a quality pouch with a strong seam and made with quality and durable fabric that will provide good enough support.

ENTRY 3

To me, safe babywearing is not only to ensure safety of the child in a carrier but also, to ensure safety of the child if they are NOT in the carrier. I had to work during a weekend in an exhibition by the side of the road and I MUST wear my DD so that she doesn't wander around.

ENTRY 5

Photo of me back carry Alesya in SSC. How do i ensure her safety?

First, i checked the SSC's condition. This include but not limited to fabric, seams and buckles.

After happy with the conditions, i will proceed to put Alesya in and buckled up. Next, i do have a look in a mirror how is she doing behind. I will ensure that the posture is right and she not able to reach something that might harm her e.g hair clip, loose shirt's button etc.

And last but not least to be aware at all time. The closer to me the safer she should be right?

ENTRY 6

Using ringsling, i always make sure the fabric is suitable for baby's weight. I ensure the fabric covers almost his entire body for back support and his bum until back of his knees and his legs are in M-position for comfort & snug. The rings are at my comfort position and do not harm him in any way. If the tail is too long I’d wrap it around the ring for safety & cosmetic look too. Last but not least, if he's comfortable, he's in a correct & safe position. And most imprtantly, when my 'mother instinct' tells me so...

ENTRY 7

I buy carriers that SAFEty is never been compromised. I get someone reliable to show the SAFE and fun way to wear my baby. I practice first in my bedroom in front of a mirror to build up my confidence and feel SAFE to wear it in public. Periodically, I check for wear and tear if any to ensure that the carriers are still SAFE to use. While wearing my baby, I check on her frequently to ascertain her SAFEty in the carrier. Lastly, I just enjoy the SAFE babywearing while feeling SAFE that she is so SAFEly close to me.

7) Aware on sling tail to avoid trapping on moving parts.

8) Practice before wearing in public.

9) Alert on baby’s response in the sling.

10) Never attempt any dangerous activity while babywearing.

11) Use carrier that suit for the baby’s age and weight.

How do I practice safe babywearing? In this picture, I’m using a wrap and backcarry my little one.

· Check the wrap, whether it is in good condition i.e no tears on the fabric and seams.

· When wrapping, make sure the wrap is tied properly – bottom rail should be behind baby’s knee and make sure that the baby is in good pouch seat.

· Make sure the baby’s back is in upright position with her bum must be lower than knees and baby’s head is not covered with the fabric so that she can breathe easily.

· Check the baby from time to time by using the reflective surfaces such as mirrors, car or store windows.

How do I practice safe babywearing? In this picture, I’m using a ring sling and to carry my little one.

· Check whether the ring sling is suitable with my baby’s age and weight.

· The rings should be in corsage position and not too close with baby’s head.

· Tighten the top and bottom rails as well as the middle to make sure the baby is in good pouch seat. The bottom rail should be behind baby’s knee.

· For tummy-to-tummy, make sure the baby sits in upright position with her bum lower than her knees. Fabric should cover the baby from neck to knees.

· Check the baby from time to time to make sure her face is not covered to prevent suffocation.

My first experience in babywearing using DIY Batik Sling

I came across babywearing in a forum while searching for breastfeeding info. At that time, I was not really interested on babywearing and believe that a mama who pushes a stroller looks more stylish than wearing the baby like ‘bibik’. But when the topic became more interesting, I thought of give it a try. I bought a pair of ring from a local online store with no idea on how to do the threading. Despite of referring to the illustrative step by step instruction from Jans Andrea website, I still failed to thread it. My hope to babywearing was almost dying.

My First Babywearing Gear: DIY Batik Sling

I met Shida in a gathering in Penang. She was really helpful to show me the correct way to thread the DIY ring sling. I could not thank her enough for helping me on this. I was excited and nervous at the same time. As you can see in the photo below, my hands were holding Hadiff’s bum. I was actually afraid that he might slip from the sling. If the image is in video mode, you could see that my hands were actually trembling! I was also afraid that the cloth might slip from the ring as there were no stitches to hold it. However, the feeling of wearing my baby was precious and I was really proud of wearing him, my best accessory. Hadiff was very understanding and he seemed to enjoy the closeness we shared. I felt like I had found a new passion. I bought my own batik on the very same day and that day I became a converted babywearer.

I used the batik sling almost everywhere, to the mall, night market and even when we were visiting friends. I did not care if I looked like a bibik though I used to get such remarks once in a while. To have a calm and happy baby is more important than the way I looked. Now the obsession has turned to addiction. Having a new baby, means new carriers and I really love trying different types of carrier like wrap and mei tai. Babywearing a gift for me and my children.

My first babywearer was a sling, a beautiful and soft sling. I used it when Ethan was younger and felt it is helpful and many people will ask about the sling and admired it.
But as you see at the picture, the baby position is not exactly right (chin can't touch the chest), lucky Syaz from Jumpsacbaby told me so that i won't repeat the mistake ;)

General Rules When Trying Out Carriers:
•Please ask permission from the respective owners before trying out their carriers.
•Please handle those carriers with tender loving care.
•Please make sure your hands are clean prior to trying out a carrier.
•NO EATING when wearing other people's carriers. The wearer or the wearee. Please.
•Refrain from trying out carriers if your babies are not well, i.e. have runny nose, etc. We would like to maintain the hygiene of the carriers as some carriers especially SSCs and MTs are not actually "washable".

Rule of thumb:
NO SELLING ARE ALLOWED AT MBW GATHERING.

Do spread the news! All are welcome! Bring your carriers if you have any! We'd love to meet you there.

Babywearing Family Outdoor Photoshoot

This was a fund-raising project organized by Malaysian Babywearers. It was held at the beautiful scenery of KLCC Park on the same day the IBW 2010 Walk was held.

For this project, 10 families who had earlier registered with us were invited for a short outdoor photoshoot for a minimal fee of RM20. And in turn, each of the participating family received 10 softcopies of their beautiful family pictures.

International Babywearing Week 2010 Walk

Malaysian Babywearers celebrated IBW 2010 by organizing a walk on 9th October 2010. This year, we decided to reach out further to the public by having the walk at a different location in KL instead of the usual favorite hangout place (currently, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara) - Suria KLCC.

The gathering started at 11.00am. More than 30 babywearers turned up. One came all the way from Melaka. Some came even without their babies just to give their support to us!

Everyone was excited to begin our public showcase!

It was a fine sunny day and everyone was so relieved to finally enter the air-conditioned shopping mall!

Our President, Jess, who came all the way from Penang, also showed up with her newborn baby.

After the long break from our monthly gatherings due to fasting month and also Hari Raya Aidilfitri, everyone was excited to catch up with each other.

For this year's walk we are seeing more Soft Structured Carriers (SSC)!

All the SSCs were amazingly beautiful!

Some even came in their beautiful D.I.Y. carriers!

We certainly attracted a lot of attention there!

It's here again! The most exciting and fun event of the year in the babywearing world is here again! This year, the theme is no other than "SAFE BABYWEARING: ENJOY THE BENEFITS".

It is no news to us at MBW that safe babywearing is important. Indeed, this has been a topic of discussion in our forum since the very day we started! No doubt some could be reading the discussions with fear in mind ("what if I didn't do this right..." but we ensure you, one could still very well enjoy the benefits of babywearing. All we have to do is to be more aware of what we are doing and keep our eyes and hearts open in acquiring the babywearing skills that works for us. And, yes, this can be different for everyone.

For those who has been celebrating this event with us for the past years, it's great to have you again. For those who are new to it... be it babywearing or the MBWcommunity, Welcome. We hope you enjoy being with us during this special month of the year and oh yes, this year, we are celebrating it from this very day, 6th October 2010 to 7th November 2010.

MBW made it to the media again! This time, thanks to Liza of SNUGGBABY, MBW was featured in today's (May 19, 2010) Harian Metro under the Variasi segment.

In general the article covered about the different types of baby carriers as well as the benefits of babywearing. We hope that this article would let us reach further to the public in our mission to spread the babywearing love.

MBW's 1st KL Gathering of 2010 (April 2010 KL Gathering)

Yay! Malaysian Babywearers finally held its first KL Gathering of 2010 just lastweek on 17th April 2010 (Saturday)! Many thanks to Mom's Little Ones for their generous offer to let us use their cosy space to host the gathering.

The gathering started at around 3.00pm. About 30 parents showed up with their children; some were newbies who came to learn more about babywearing, while others were experienced babywearers who came to give their support and learn more about other babywearing techniques.

The topic for the gathering was Introduction To Babywearing, which was then immediately followed by demo sessions of the various carriers. Everybody took the chance to try out the different types of carriers. It was such a wonderful sight to see all experienced babywearers showing the newbies how to wear their babies in the various carriers.

And let the wearing begin!

Sadness in babywearing advocacy...

Sad? If you consider what one can get out of babywearing... bonding, attachment, love... you will ask yourself this question: How can babywearing be sad?

Oh no, if you have been reading about the Safety Warning, no, this is not what it is... That, of course, is sad and heart-breaking, too. So, do have a read if you haven't and learn more about the precautions you shall be observing while babywearing.

The 'sad' I am talking about here is when...

1... You tell your friends about babywearing and promote the use of cloth etc... You even go all the way to make them a carrier or gift one to them... but they are just not into it... or worse, they end up buying a crotch-type carrier

2... You try your best to show one the benefits of babywearing (and, even breastfeeding) only to be shunned and given the negative look as though you are trying to pass them a disease!

3... You didn't even talk much and people give you the lecture on 'Why one shall NOT be carrying their babies'

4...

Recent Media Coverage in Bonda Magazine & Berita Harian

Its only March and already babywearing has been featured in two media outlets - the February issue of Bonda magazine, and the Tuesday, March 9 edition of the Ratu section in Berita Harian.

Thanks to the ladies at ibu Family Resource Group for inviting our PR representative to write this article on babywearing. Bonda is a lovely magazine published by the ibu group. For enquiries about the magazine, do contact ibu house.

We hope that this article will have reached out to parents who wouldn't have otherwise heard about babywearing, and helped quell some of the (frankly, quite bizarre) stigma that babywearing parents have had to face here. We are so so happy for all the media coverage that Malaysian Babywearers are getting - and its only March! Hopefully as the year goes on, we will be featured in more media outlets, with the ultimate goal being a spot on TV! (If anyone knows a way in, do let us know - we will be eternally grateful!)

Safety warning on using slings with your little baby

In another worrying report on possible infant deaths caused by the use of sling, "Infant Deaths Prompt CPSC Warning About Sling Carriers for Babies", it is noted that infants of the following condition are discouraged from the use of slings in their early months of life (4 months and below):

- preemies
- twins
- baby in fragile health condition

I would say that even with babies who are born healthily and with normal birth weight etc, infant babywearing has to be handled with care. It is ALWAYS important to look for signs of changes (in skin colour etc.) and discomfort (baby squirming and trying to get out etc.) and do trust your instincts if you feel baby is not comfortable or unsafe.

Have a read at the above article. It is not meant to scare you off babywearing but more like a safety precaution for all of us who need to wear our babies at that young age.

2nd Babywearing Talk at ibu House

On Feb 8, our Malaysian Babywearers representative, Adriana Thani, conducted the 2nd babywearing talk at ibu House. We would like to thank the Gentle Birthing Group KL for inviting us to do the talk, and ibu House for providing the location.

Entitled Introduction to Babywearing, this talk covers the basics of babywearing, including the benefits of babywearing, types of carriers, demonstrations on how to use carriers, as well as tips on safe & successful babywearing. Following a hearty Q&A session, attendees mingled with each other. Mothers, mothers-to-be, and even grandmothers all chatted up a storm, and several vendors were on hand to let attendees touch, feel and try their products. The children had a lot of fun as well!

IBW '09 Babywearing Walk in Gurney Plaza, PENANG

18th Oct 2009 - It was a cloudy day (with a chance of meatballs??!) as Penang Babywearers gathered in front of Chilli's of G Hotel at 2.30pm for the annual IBW walk. Joining us on the day were Bee Gaik, Alison, Debz, Karen and Rohani, with the older children tagging along, wearing their 'little ones'.

As it started drizzling, we headed indoors to wait for the full attendance before proceeding to the new wing of Gurney plaza. The plan was to round the concourse area of both the new and old wing of the plaza to catch the Sunday crowd of families enjoying their weekends. Unlike most malls, there is no specific 'kiddy level' in Gurney plaza.

Walking around in a group, wearing our babies, we sure turned heads of passers-by who stared and wondered what we were doing. While there might not be a huge crowd with young families, we sure enjoyed ourselves as we finished the walk 45 minutes later and settled down for tea at Big Apple Donuts. We almost took over the whole place!
